A very beautiful area that is one of the best places in the world to explore the exposure of the break that occurred ~200 million years ago when the ancient continent of Pangea split to form the Americas to the West and Europe & Africa to the east. The resulting lava flows and noxious gasses released into the atmosphere led to one of the five mass extinction events that wiped out many of the dinosaur's biological competitors. The dinosaurs went on to thrive for another 135 million years afterward. The area is brimming with interesting geology and fossils.
